#365daysofwisdom - days 8 and 9

Yes, I missed a day. It makes today's wisdom so relevant.

"Be here now."  ~Ram Dass

Simple, yet profound, and oh so hard to do sometimes.

Frankly, "It's always now." - ~James Finley

There ya go, two pieces of wisdom in one post!

What wisdom can you share?

#365daysofwisdom - Day 7

"...Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference."

#365daysofwisdom - Day 5

Today's wisdom demonstrates the importance of balancing being selfish and being selfless.

Given to me by Dave Fraser, a marvelous musician.

"Be Selfish...give yourself permission to do the things you've always dreamed of accomplishing... have a sense of self-worth, along with a unique talent and heart.

Be Selfless...in order to help make this world a better place for you having been here. Share your gifts and your love by your example, and surely you will have succeeded."

and lastly, Dave reminded me that "time is precious, and we should be loving others and living our lives with that in mind."

What wisdom do you have to share?

#365daysofwisdom - Day 3

Wisdom from a mindful and inspired teenager:

"Write hand written letters to people you love." ~ M.O.

This is the second time in less than 3 weeks that I've encountered someone talking about the importance of this activity. The idea of writing and its benefits got me thinking about the physical act of handwriting and how Julia Cameron, author of the Artist's Way talks about the link between our hands and our hearts and the importance of putting pen to paper.

I came across an interesting article on writing (not all hand- writing), that supports the wisdom offered by my teenage friend: Geoffrey Ciotti's article "The Psychological Benefits of Writing".

Having just celebrated a beautiful birthday event, I think that in addition to sending an electronic thank you to everyone who participated, I will take the time to hand-write to each person. Maybe I will even purchase ink and quill!

#365 days of wisdom - day 2

My son shared this beautiful piece of wisdom for my birthday. I am so honored!

"So live your life that the fear of death can never enter your heart.Trouble no one about their religion; respect others in their view, and demand that they respect yours. Love your life, perfect your life, beautify all things in your life. Seek to make your life long and its purpose in the service of your people. Prepare a noble death song for the day when you go over the great divide. Always give a word or a sign of salute when meeting or passing a friend, even a stranger, when in a lonely place. Show respect to all people and grovel to none. When you arise in the morning give thanks for the food and for the joy of living. If you see no reason for giving thanks, the fault lies only in yourself. Abuse no one and no thing, for abuse turns the wise ones to fools and robs the spirit of its vision. When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home."

#365 days of wisdom - Day 1

Last weekend I had the good fortune of participating in a "wisdom exchange"with friends and family. I was inspired beyond measure!

I feel very fortunate, and have decided to do #365daysofwisdom as a way to be reminded of the marvelous insights that were shared, and to explore new tidbits of wisdom. Expect a variety of material i.e. poems, stories, photos, quotes, etc. Only the day will know what will come!

Enjoy, and if you feel inspired, please post YOUR wisdom!

My husband offered the following as food for thought...
"Today I shall behave as if this day is the day I will be remembered." - Dr. Seuss

Wishing you a blessed day,
Chantel
